Roma vs CSKA: Vine highlights and goals
The Giallorossi's debut ended with a clean victory over the Russian side. Gervinho and Iturbe dismantled a ridicolous defense
by Federico Formica
A dream night: Roma debut in Champions League after three seasons was a an overwhelming success. A 5-1 over CSKA Moscow is the best way to start in a hard group (Bayern Munich and Manchester City are the other two opponents). The game was totally dominated by the Giallorossi, who ruthlessly exploited the unbelievable sequence of defensive errors of the Russian side. A 67,5% ball possession and 671 passes completed (against 279 by CSKA) are a clue of the game's trend.

Roma tifosi were looking forward to attend the Champions League debut. If you want a proof, just listen at the Curva Sud's roar during the anthem.

After six minutes, Iturbe scored the opener. The assist was by Gervinho. Gervinho and Iturbe shattered the defence with their runs and dribblings. Iturbe was grateful to Gervinho as the Argentinian served the assist to the Ivorian for the second goal.

CSKA had the chance to revive the match but De Sanctis was glacial and Doumbia... not exactly clinical.

CSKA defense was a mess. But neither the goalkeeper Akinfeev was helpful.

By the way, Maicon played a fantastic game with a 93% of successful passes and four chances created. Another goal by Gervinho, who even had the time to have a cup of team in the middle of the penalty box, and Alessandro Florenzi decided that the time was come for "la manita".

Oddly, CSKA started to play only after they conceded the fifth goal as they hit the bar with Doumbia, then the consolation goal came thanks to Musa. Four minutes later, a stunner by Ivanov crossed the line, but neither the referee nor the linesman saw it.
