Adrien Rabiot and Roma, a tormented love-story
The young Frenchman said that "he doesn't understand why the deal collapsed" but he will be free to sign a pre-contract in January. Will the Premier League's big wigs sneak in the negotiations between Psg and the Giallorossi?

During the summer transfer window various clubs were tracking the highly rated midfielder including Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea. Adrien Rabiot however was set to disappoint the Premier league giants to push for a move to Italy with AS Roma. The deal however, collapsed. Rabiot told Canal+ "With Roma, everything was done. It was my choice. I had already decided to wear their shirt," “And to be honest, I don't understand why the deal collapsed.”

The deal is said to of been going through until PSG started to demand £24 million for the services of the young Frenchman. It seems certain the midfielder will leave, with Laurent Blanc stating “I believe he will leave, but I can't tell you where.” The deal may have to wait until January or maybe even until his current contract at the Parc de Princes expires. Roma may have offered the youngster a £4 million per year contract to sweeten the move to the Stadio Olimpico, a figure much higher than what is being offered at Rabiot’s current cub. This deal however may represent a certain element of risk for AS Roma as the Frenchman has only made 31 appearances for PSG so he may be a huge gamble for the Italian side.

The 19 year old currently has less than a year remaining on his contract so during January will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any team he chooses. Rabiot may however be looking for a quick exit as it seems he has been shunned out of PSG’s first team as he has not been included in the squad so far this season. This could lead to a fight for his services and with Roma not able to compete with the financial muscle of the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea he may well end up in English football. However it seems that the Frenchman will most likely sign his pre-contract with Italian giants Roma as Rabiot himself sees the Italian league as the best place to continue his footballing development.

A profile. Adrien Rabiot is an imposing six feet two inch versatile centre midfielder from France. At just 19 years of age Rabiot can be described as a powerful midfielder with an eye for a pass, he is primarily left footed however is still useful on his right side. He is currently plying his trade at French champions PSG. Competition for places is tough at PSG due to the quality of their midfield, which includes Cabaye, Italians Marco Verratti and Motta, Pastore and Matuidi to name just a few.

He has however managed 31 appearances for PSG in less than 3 years at the club which is a respectable stat at such a quality team for a man of his age. During his time at Les Parisiens he has scored four goals and contributed four assists. Rabiot has not yet represented France at senior level but has made 36 appearances for Les Bleus at various other levels.
