WC semifinals: Bundesliga and Bayern Munich are the most represented, Premier League and Serie A follow
Germany and Netherlands are the national teams who picked up the most players from their national leagues. Argentina are the most "Italian" side at stake. La Liga will give 8 players only to the semifinalists
Brasil-Germany and Argentina-Holland, which means 12 World Cup titles and 21 World Cup finals. Both matchups are the re-edition of previous finals, as the hosts beated Germany 2-0 in 2002 in Yokohama and Mario Kempes’ Argentina got the best of a Crujff-less Holland in Buenos Aires in 1978.

This also means la crème de la crème of world football, with the Big 5 leagues all represented. Unsurprisingly, the Bundesliga is the league with more players, mostly thanks to a 70% autochthonous Mannschaft. The Premier League follows very closely, while Serie A, despite the structural problems of Italian football, is still widely represented by 14 players (19% among the Big 5), third most represented league preceding Eredivisie (14%) and Liga (11%).

In terms of single clubs, Bayern Munich lead the way, with 9 players (7 of which are Germans), in front of a surprising Feyenoord with 5 (all dutch), and Inter, Napoli, PSG, Barcelona, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund with 4. Inter and Napoli are the biggest suppliers of Argentina, as the nerazzurri gave three players to the Albiceleste (like Man City): Ricky Alvarez, Palacio and Campagnaro while Andujar, Federico Fernandez and Higuain come from Naples. Andujar played for Catania in the last season but he is owned by Napoli. Overall, Argentina is the most “Italian” national team, with over a third of the players coming from the Italian league.
