Higuaín and Tévez, Serie A top players don't betray
The Argentinians were among the most important signings of the last transfer market. Juventus and Napoli now enjoy their performances and keep dreaming of the Scudetto

Serie A Argentinian stars shine bright. A hat trick to Sassuolo; the opener in the important match against Inter. Carlos Tévez and Gonzalo Higuaín were the key players respectively for Juventus's and Napoli's wins in this 16th matchday. Waiting for Roma, which are playing tonight at the San Siro versus Milan, the Bianconeri and the Azzurri forgot about their European frustrations and did their duty in the Campionato.

Juventus easily beat Sassuolo (4-0) confirming their leadership while Napoli prevailed over Inter in a nice match that ended 4-2. Both Walter Mazzarri and Rafa Benitez faced their past: the current coach of the Nerazzurri returned for the first time to the stadium where he lived his last 4 seasons, while the Spaniard had a brief experience at Inter, where he won two trophies before being sacked in Moratti's post- mourinhian  widowhood.

El Apache, the goalscorer has come. Juventus found in Carlos Tévez the ruthless goalscorer they desperately needed. A number says it all: the Argentinian has scored 10 goals so far in Serie A. The same achievement that Mirko Vučinić and Arturo Vidal reached in the entire last season, when they were Juventus's top-scorers. Against Sassuolo, Tévez played as an authentic center-forward. From this position he harvested each one of his goals in this first half of the season.

El Apache came to Juventus after two disappointing seasons at Manchester City, which lowered his price tremendously: the Italian team purchased him for 12 € M. Now, we can say it was a real bargain. Someone had doubts about his goalscoring skills – the author of this article was one of them – but he has contradicted everyone so far.

We are talking about a key player for Juventus, and not only for his 10 goals. Tévez has already made 4 assists, 2,2 key passes per match, he is the player who mostly tries to shoot in a match after Mario Balotelli (WhoScored.com data). There is only one regret in the 29-year-old forward's season so far: the Champions League, where he never scored and never made a decisive assist. After the elimination in the debated match against Galatasaray, now it's too late to remedy.

El Pipita, money well spent. Gonzalo Higuaín arrived in Naples with an oppressive heritage: he had to replace Edinson Cavani in the center of Napoli's attack and even in the fans' hearts. The amount that president Aurelio De Laurentiis spent (37€ M) surely didn't ease the weight of the responsibility.

Now that we have almost reached the Christmas break, we can say it openly: he's succeeding in this challenge. With last night's wonderful volley against Internazionale, Higuaín scored his eighth goal in Serie A and the 12th in the season, considering the four he made in Champions League to Borussia Dortmund, Marseille (2) and Arsenal.

Napoli's fans love Higuaín for his determination as well: his furious elation after a goal, the way he gets angry when a teammate does not pass him the ball, the way he contributes to the defensive phase when the situation demands it (as it happened last week in the useless victory with Arsenal). The former Real Madrid forward responded to the responsibilities: he is a puller for his teammates and he integrated very well in the 4-2-3-1 scheme adopted by Rafa Benitez.
