Italy's curse against Spain continues: la Nazionale doesn't beat the reds since 1994. At Madrid's Vicente Calderon stadium the Azzurri lost 1-0 to the defending world champions. The goal scored by Pedro condemned Italy to their 5th game in a row without a win. The good news for coach Cesare Prandelli was the good match played by the Italian-Argentinian defender Gabriel Paletta. Parma's footballer is now the first replacement for the Juventus' trio Barzagli-Bonucci-Chiellini. The attack suffered the absence of Balotelli. The best forward for the Azzurri was Alessio Cerci, who hit the post after four minutes.
