Juventus and Napoli keep their pace and put pressure on Roma, which tonight will seek its tenth victory out of ten Serie A games against Chievo Verona at Olimpico Stadium. Napoli faced the harder test and passed it with flying colors, by winning in Florence against Fiorentina for 1-2. Josè Maria Callejon and a fantastic play by Dries Mertens were decisive to overcome Pepito Rossi's penalty. The match played at Artemio Franchi was very entertaining, between two teams that– together with Roma – currently play the best football this season. But in the final minutes of the match, Fiorentina's Colombian winger Cuadrado was clearly grounded by Gokhan Inler in the penalty box. The referee decided to show Cuadrado the yellow card for an alleged simulation.
Juventus had it easy against Catania. At Juventus Stadium, bianconeri crashed the etnei 4-0 thanks to Arturo Vidal, Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and Leonardo Bonucci. Andrea Pirlo's free kick was simply perfect: the best way to celebrate the recent nomination for the 2013 Fifa Ballon d'Or.
Hellas Verona demonstrated that the San Siro defeat was only a speed bump and came back to its old adage: victory. This time, the victim was Sampdoria (2-0, Gomez and Luca Toni). The Scaligeri reached Inter in the fifth place on the table with 19 points. A fantastic season so far!
There were high expectations around Milan-Lazio, but the game ended in a quite useless 1-1 draw. The main event of that rainy night was the good game by Kakà, which culminated in an outstanding goal: a great shot just from outside the penalty box towards the far post. San Siro exploded. But it was a short joy because Milan's defense demonstrated once again its unsuitableness conceding the equalizer to Michael Ciani, left all alone in the middle of the box. For the French defender it was the first goal in Serie A.
Livorno-Torino 3-3 was the funniest game of the night. The Tuscans made an incredible comeback (0-2 / 3-2) but in the 87th minute Cerci scored the equalizer thanks to a penalty kick. Armando Picchi's stadium spectators could admire the best goal of the matchday: a torpedo from 35 meters of distance netted by the defender Emerson.
Udinese recovered from the unlucky defeat against Roma and won the away game against Sassuolo (1-2). Antonio Di Natale scored his 180th goal in Serie A. A wonderful achievement for this 36 years old genius. Genoa can sleep tight after having picked up three points against Parma. Alberto Gilardino made it all: he missed a penalty in the first half and scored the decisive goal in the second part of the match.
After an awful beginning, Bologna won the second game in a row prevailing on Cagliari at Sant'Elia stadium (for the isolani this is the second match in their home-stadium after a season played in Trieste). Currently Bologna is outside from the relegation zone. A dangerous area where Catania, Sassuolo and Chievo Verona got stuck.
